Do I need a commercial/industrial permit?

 

These are lists of common project types.  If you are unsure if a permit is needed for your project, call the office to discuss your plan with a member of our staff.

Permits are needed for a variety of project types, including, but not limited to:

  • new construction
  • additions
  • remodels/alterations/repairs to a building
  • change of use
  • decks
  • fences
  • accessory structures including garages, attached and detached
  • electrical, HVAC, & Plumbing work
  • demolitions
  • telecommunication towers and antenna co-locates
  • signs

 

What do I need for my commercial/industrial permit?

Different project types have different submittal requirements. Read through the associated permit checklist to get a complete list of what is required for your particular project.  Please note that all commercial/industrial projects requiring plan review require three sets of plans stamped by an Illinois Licensed Design Professional, drawn to scale.  

Commercial / Industrial plan review typically takes up to 14 business days once complete, code complaint information is received.   

 

All permits require a site plan to be submitted.  You can use Peoria County's GIS map to help make a site plan for your project by printing an aerial view of your property.

Will I need to have my projected inspected?

All permits will require inspection, although the number and type of inspections vary by project.  You can visit the Building Inspections page to learn more about how and when to schedule an inspection.
